Bright Green Academics at the Forefront of Sustainability
Alliant International University’s Marshall Goldsmith School of Management (MGSM) has been confirmed as ISOS Group’s regional collaborating partner in Southern California and the surrounding region. Due to a growing demand for certifications in Sustainability Reporting aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) widely used G3 Framework, additional events are scheduled at Marshall Goldsmith’s green facilities in beautiful San Diego.
When Nancy Mancilla, owner of ISOS Group first heard about the opportunity to become a GRI certified training partner for the United States, she immediately thought of engaging the professor who first introduced the term “sustainability” into her vocabulary. “Sustainability Accounting Pioneer”, David Bainbridge showed immediate interest and began to work with ISOS Group on developing their training program to be administered in California. This comes at a perfect time for MGSM, since they are one of a handful of institutions in the United States offering an MBA in sustainable management practices.
MGSM faculty members including Dr. Rachna Kumar and Dr. Jennifer Roney have even taken advantage of becoming certified. Dr. Kumar describes the GRI Certification course as “providing advanced insights into GRI’s sustainability reporting framework and its application as an anchor for understanding the drivers and best practices in the area.” MGSM’s Bright Green MBA program students will also have the opportunity to enhance their studies through this complimentary certification, just as private and non-profit sustainability professionals, policy makers, consultants and other academicians will benefit from this technique of tracking and reporting progress in social, environmental and economic areas affecting day-to-day operations.
ISOS Group has recently established a number of collaborative partnerships across the country. Each entity will offer the certification in different formats in order to appeal to various audiences. Courses offered through MGSM are adapted to organizations of all sizes, small and medium-sized enterprises, and sector-specific groups. As part of ISOS Group’s operating philosophy to increase accessibility to academics, sponsorships will be sought out to help offset costs to graduate students. ISOS and Alliant have already successfully delivered courses and are currently inviting interested parties to register for the October 7-8, 2010 event. For more information about our sponsorship program and upcoming events, please refer to: http://isosgroup.com/gri-certified
About MGSM: Marshall Goldsmith School of Management (MGSM) offers programs in Business and Management, International Relations and Organizational Psychology at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. The programs offered integrate within the larger framework of sustainability across the different degrees. MGSM’s business programs aim to have an interdisciplinary and systemic approach while infusing sustainability into every discipline. MBE Dissertation Symposium held at Chesterford Research Park
University Supervisors, student Mentors, members of the business community and the MBE Programme Examiners were among the audience at this years’ MBE Dissertation Symposium at which students from the Cambridge Master’s in Bioscience Enterprise Programme presented the findings of their internship activities.
An impressive range of internship activities had been undertaken by the students and the conclusions drawn from their work provided fascinating insights into the business activities of the host companies.
The task of assessing the students’ attainment is considerable and was undertaken by Professor Graham Richards, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford and Professor Chris Lowe, University of Cambridge Professor of Biotechnology and Director of the Institute of Biotechnology. Professor Richards joined the examination team in the capacity of External Examiner for the first time this year, assessing both the students’ work as well as the standing of the course in general.
Dr Linda Allan, Director, Master’s in Bioscience Enterprise Programme commented: “The community at Chesterford Research Park is an excellent example of high achievement in the biotechnology R&D arena and as such is an inspiration to our University of Cambridge postgraduate Bioscience Enterprise students. That combined with the excellent facilities and service provided by the Park team at The Nucleus is why we are holding our symposium here for the fourth consecutive year.”
Chesterford Research Park (http://www.chesterfordresearchpark.com) is an excellent example of a thriving biotech and pharmaceutical business community, ideally situated within easy reach of the City of Cambridge, Stansted airport and the M11. The Park operates a taxi service and regular shuttle buses to and from the railway stations at Audley End and Great Chesterford, from which London is only approximately an hour away. From its position within the South Cambridgeshire Biotech Cluster, Chesterford Research Park is perfectly positioned to offer companies of all sizes attractively located, well designed, state-of-the-art facilities.

THE SUPERIOR NANO MATERIAL: Nano Graphene Platelets (NGP) outperforms Carbon NanoTubes (CNT)
The Nano Graphene Platelets (NGP) material discovered in 2004 has been studied for a number of years. It has many of the same characteristics as Carbon Nano Tubes (CNT) and other carbon particles; NGPs overall performance equals or exceeds most application performances when compared with any other Nano particles. Nano Graphene Platelets are also known as Graphene Nanoplatelets. Carbon Nano Tubes are also known as Carbon Nanotubes.
According to some studies, composites when infused with NGP are stiffer and less prone to failure than composites infused with carbon nano tubes or other nanoparticles. These gains are in the area of 1 order of magnitude.
When added to polymers, NGPs mechanical strength exceeds that of Carbon Nano Tubes (CNT#. NGP and CNT can have similar functionalization or surface treatments to improve mechanical bonding and electrical characteristics. NGPs superior shape #grid like or fence shape) gives a better mechanical attachment than the CNT tubular shape, this unique shape gives NGP significantly higher strength, puncture and crack resistances, as well as excellent permeability barrier properties. These improved properties can be seen in a host of different materials.
Super capacitors can perform better when made with NGP. NGP based nanocomposite materials exhibit high levels of capacitance and electrical conductivity as well as demonstrating chemical stability and low mass density. The conductive film is superior because of the unique molecular shape of the particles, which can store more electrons than other known materials.
When adding 1% to 2 % NGP by volume to aluminum the electrical conductivity and strength are improved significantly.

Rutgers Business Plan Competition awards entrepreneurial students with viable start-up ideas
When around a business long enough, eureka moments to create a business that fills a need and makes money come and go. Sometimes an idea makes so much sense it’s a wonder it isn’t being done. But then the old adage “it takes money to make money” comes into play and the idea dies. Enter the Rutgers Business School (RBS) Business Plan Competition, an annual event that has been awarding cash prizes to entrepreneurial students for 10 years to give great ideas the push to start a viable business.
Sunay Shah (RBS MBA ’10) saw an opportunity to jumpstart his business idea by entering the 2010 competition. Shah’s winning idea, to provide patients waiting to receive care in a doctor’s office a hand-held interactive device with their personal health records and customized medical information loaded on it, was one of 31 business plans entered in the competition. Shah and partner Maria Frantz, who received a Masters in Science – Biostatistics from Rutgers, won the $20,000 first place prize to invest into their business.
“Servicing technology for physicians for the past 10 years, I started seeing a lot of things in doctor’s offices that could be done to close the information gap between doctor and patient,” said Shah, who founded his company StratiMed in 2008. “This money will immediately allow us to buy the hardware and software needed to start selling,” he said.
Open to students in the RBS undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA programs as well as recent RBS alumni, teams competed for $35,000 in cash prizes provided by the Sales Executives Club of Northern New Jersey Foundation. “The Business Plan Competition shows Rutgers commitment to encourage entrepreneurship,” said Richard Romano, president of the Sales Executive Club of Northern New Jersey Foundation, and member of the RBS Board of Advisers.
There was a tie for second place between Equal Footing, submitted by Dan Spindler, Executive MBA – Marketing, 2010, and Big Day Network, submitted by Mike DeCesare, BS in Business, expected December 2010, with each team winning $7,500.
Spindler’s idea for Equal Footing came from his wife who teaches handicapped children. “We want to create a web-based tool to advance the life of people with disabilities,” he said. Spindler said the business plan competition money would help him do a lot of marketing to promote the idea.
With an enthusiastic grin, DeCesare said that his idea came from his mother who has always wanted to be a wedding planner. The Big Day Network website, which is hoping to “transform the event planning industry,” according to DeCesare, will be launched in September thanks to the business plan competition prize money.
The objective of the Business Plan Competition is to encourage the development of students’ business plans that have the potential to be funded and launched. More than just a competition, “it is a reflection of Rutgers Business School’s strong corporate partnerships and its emphasis on preparing its students and graduates to succeed in applying business concepts to real-world challenges,” said Michael R. Cooper, PhD., Dean of Rutgers Business School.
Previous winners were in 2009, The Intersect Fund, a micro lender based in New Brunswick and comprised mostly of volunteer Rutgers Students, and in 2008, Bookswim, a book rental service with a similar business model to the one Netflix uses.

Carolina Tire Lists Top 10 Car Killers
It pays to beware of these 10 Most Wanted Car Killers, the corrosive agents of your car’s destruction from within. They tend to be stealthy killers, often escaping the notice of even the most careful car owners.
Thankfully there's a way to protect your car with BG brand products and services from Carolina Tire. Get to know your car’s 10 worst enemies. Then ask your Carolina Tire service advisor about BG Scheduled Maintenance. There’s a quality BG service specifically designed to protect your car from each one of the 10 Most Wanted Car Killers.
#1 - Lube & Fuel Oxidation
Oxidation of engine oil produces harmful sludge that can reduce engine cooling, accelerate component wear and plug passages necessary for proper oil circulation and lubrication. Abrasive material then accumulates within the engine, which can destroy bearings and promote seal leakage. Likewise, oxidative by-products of fuel reduce the volumetric efficiency of fuel pumps and filters, and can result in costly fuel injector failure. Higher tailpipe emissions and poor fuel economy always follow in the footsteps of damaging fuel deposits.
# 2 Diesel Injection Clogging
Heavy carbon residues build up on fuel injectors, thus reducing their optimal efficiency. This leads to a poor fuel spray pattern, reduced injector cooling and flow, and inefficient combustion. If left unattended, this condition can rob an engine of power and will produce excess exhaust gas smoke, poor power and fuel economy and shortened injector life.
# 3 Drive Line Abrasion
Rear differential ring and pinion gears can suffer scoring, fretting and pitting due to lack of lubrication and corrosion. Stress cracks may develop that serve to weaken the gear surface and promote further damage. Also, excessive gear and bearing noise may indicate that abrasive metallic wear is occurring within your gear set. Progressive gear wear within this unit will have a negative effect on seals, causing fluid leakage.
# 4 Fuel Air / Induction Carbon
Gummy residues derived from residual fuel vapors have a tendency to accumulate within the air intake (plenum) over time. These deposits restrict air flow and disrupt combustion air swirl and dispersal. This all serves to decrease engine efficiency and fuel economy. Engine devices like MAF sensors, Idle Air Controllers and critical throttle plate clearances are also impeded by these gummy deposits.
# 5 Transmission Sludge
Transmissions operate under widely adverse conditions and expose the transmission fluid to wide swings in temperature. As Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) ages, it forms sludge, which reduces fluid circulation and transmission cooling. Abrasive metal particles generated from aged ATF will ruin seals and cause irreversible damage to internal transmission components. A customer may eventually experience erratic shifting, excessive vibration or noise, or even transmission failure.
# 6 Power Steering Debris
High pressure power steering units require excellent lubricants to function properly. Damage to gears, seals, O-rings, bearings and bushings, and spool valves are dramatically increased by poor quality lubricants. Critical brass and other soft alloys rely on the proper balance of lubricant additives to ensure long power steering life and trouble-free operation.
# 7 Cooling System Scale
Minerals found in tap water have the tendency of combining with the additives found in automotive coolant. When this happens, they form a chemical complex called “phosphate scale,” which coats the heat transfer surfaces of the radiator and heads, resulting in decreased heat-transfer efficiency. When this occurs, your car will overheat and run much hotter than it was designed to. This scale can also lead to the destruction of water pump bearings.
# 8 Brake Fluid Moisture Contamination
The gradual deterioration of brake fluid over time happens by exposure to heat, pressure, and moisture contamination. As the brake fluid additives deplete, the fluid breaks down at an increased rate, resulting in corrosion of brake parts, poor compressibility and eventual loss of brake function.
# 9 Climate Control Mold
Mildew, mold and spores can inhabit your automotive climate control system. The presence of moisture in air conditioning ducts is common since the air leaving the air conditioner evaporator is saturated with it. Air conditioning used continuously during hot weather provides little time for ducts to dry out. High moisture in ducts can cake with dirt and provide an environment for mold to grow. This situation leads to serious indoor air contamination problems, resulting in symptoms of illness such as headaches, watery eno, nausea, skin disorders and fatigue.
# 10 Battery Corrosion
Slower than normal cranking may be a sign that your battery is holding less than it’s optimal electric charge. Oxidation of the battery terminals and build-up of exterior dirt and corrosion accelerate the loss of current through the case of the battery, thus prematurely discharging it.
All these killers can be caught and put away at Carolina Tire & Auto using quality BG Products and space age technology and equipment for your car, truck or SUV.

NY's New Tax Latest to "Punish" Smokers -- It's What the Public Wants
New York's proposed new additional tobacco tax of $1.60/pack, pushing the total price of a pack of cigarettes to over $10, is designed both to raise an additional $440 million in revenue and, according to some, to "punish" smokers, but it's simply the latest is a growing number of measures aimed at smokers many regard as punitive, and is in line with growing public sentiment to force smokers to pay a higher share of the costs of smoking, says Action on Smoking and Health (ASH).
New York's new total tax of $4.35 per pack would be in line with other states which also have high taxes, including Rhode Island ($3.46), Connecticut ($3.00), New York state ($2.75), New Jersey ($2.70), Hawaii ($2.60), Wisconsin ($2.52), Massachusetts ($2.51), Vermont ($2.24), Washington ($2.025), Alaska ($2.00), Arizona ($2.00), Connecticut ($2.00), District of Columbia ($2.00) Maine ($2.00), Maryland ($2.00), Michigan ($2.00), Alaska ($2.00), Arizona ($2.00), District of Columbia ($2.00), Maine ($2.00), Maryland ($2.00), and Michigan ($2.00). [as of January 2010]
This growing trend to require smokers to pay in taxes at least a portion of the huge costs they impose on the economy -- almost $200 billion a year -- is also reflected in a recent national poll which finds that voters favor a $1/pack increase in state cigarette taxes by an overwhelming 67%-31% margin -- more than 2 to 1 -- with 53% saying they "strongly" support such a tax increase. The increase is favored by Democrats (70%), Republicans (58% percent), and Independents (64%).
It's also consistent with a recent study showing that almost half of all large U.S. companies penalize employees' unhealthy behavior (especially smoking at 64%) or plan to do so shortly. More than a dozen states already require their employees who smoke to pay more for health insurance, and one state charges smokers more under Medicaid. A growing number of companies are following the lead of the W.H.O. and refusing to hire smokers; judges have issued orders in the large majority of states banning smoking in homes to protect children, and more and more states are prohibiting smoking in foster homes and in cars when kids are present.
Charging smokers more is also what the public wants, says public interest law professor John Banzhaf of ASH.
When MSNBC reported in August, 2009, on a plan by ASH to incorporate personal responsibility into the new health reform law by charging smokers more for health insurance, it noted that 57% of Americans favor higher health insurance premiums for smokers, as contrasted with only 36% favoring a similar surcharge on the obese. www.pr-inside.com/most-want-health-insurance-smoker-surcharge-r1 ..
Interestingly, the new health reform law does in fact permit charging smokers up to 50% more for their health insurance, but similar surcharges for other health factors such as obesity can be instituted only if they are part of a federally qualified "wellness" program, and then only up to a lower percentage.
At about the same time, the WorkTrends report noted that a majority of workers supported charging employees who smoke more for their health insurance (50% vs 47%), whereas they opposed similar charges for those who drink too much alcohol (43% vs. 54%), and strongly oppose such charges for workers who are very overweight (26% vs. 69%). www.heldrich.rutgers.edu/uploadedFiles/Publications/Heldrich_Cen ..
Interestingly, the same report said that workers also strongly oppose the use of financial incentives to promote healthier behaviors. "The notion that participation in a wellness program should be rewarded with extra pay or extra time off, however, is troubling to workers. . . . Two thirds of workers (66%) feel that employers should not provide extra pay to participants, and 6 in 10 (59%) say the same about extra time off."
A more recent survey by CNNMoney.com showed even more support for charging smokers higher rates for health insurance. Asked "should insurers penalize people for unhealthy behavior?," 31% said "yes, it promotes good health," and an additional 22% responded "only for very unhealthy things like smoking." In short, 53% would support such a surcharge, whereas only 31% favor using incentives instead. money.cnn.com/POLLSERVER/results/51174.html
A much higher percentage of employees would probably support charging smokers more for health insurance if they realized that each smoking employee can cost a company more than $10,000 a year in higher health care costs, disability payments, time lost from work, etc. -- money which otherwise could be used to provide better health insurance coverage for all employees, higher salaries, or for other purposes. ash.org/$12000.

Clydesdale Bank and Elite Ayrshire Business Circle golfers raise £10,000
The third annual charity golf competition organised by Clydesdale Bank’s Ayrshire Financial Solutions Centre and the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle was held at Brunston Castle Golf Course, and for the third year running raised more than £10,000 for charity.
Seventeen teams from across the county entered the Golf Day, raising a total of £10,044 for the Ayrshire Hospice and Help the Hospices, including a donation by Clydesdale Bank.
The team from financial advisors Thomson McCallum were the winners on the day, with QTS Group providing the prize, and last year’s winners ARPL Architects Ltd taking second spot, sponsored by Giles Insurance. Other prizes included four nearest the pins, sponsored by L&M Survey Services and a longest drive sponsored by Sinclair Scott Chartered Accountants.
Following the day’s play Clydesdale Bank also organised a charity auction, with prizes including a four-ball round of golf at either Royal Troon, Prestwick, Turnberry or Western Gailes and hospitality packages from Kilmarnock FC, Clydesdale Bank, Logan Jewellers and West Sound Radio.
Brunston Castle Golf Course general manager Cheryl Steven commented: “Brunston Castle Golf Course was proud to host the Clydesdale Bank and Elite Ayrshire Business Circle Charity Golf Day 2010 to raise funds for the Ayrshire Hospice.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all players and organisers for choosing Brunston Castle Golf Course as their venue for 2010.”
Elite Ayrshire Business Circle executive chairman and Frazer Coogans Solicitors senior partner Norman Geddes said: “All of us in the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle were delighted to join with our friends in the Clydesdale Bank once again to host this third annual Golf Day, which because of its initial success has now become a regular annual event to which we all look forward.
“Thanks to the marvellous support received from our members, their guests and the sponsors we have been able to raise this magnificent sum for the Ayrshire Hospice. This is an outstanding result in the present challenging economic climate, and is a tribute to the generosity of the Ayrshire business community. We look forward to building still further upon this success in future years in order to increase our support for such a worthy cause.
“Since fundraising for the Ayrshire Hospice first started nearly 25 years ago, it has become a cause very dear to the hearts of local people and businesses alike. We are therefore pleased that all funds raised by today’s events will go to benefit a local charity that is worthwhile by anybody’s standards.
“Our members are unanimous in their support for the work that the Ayrshire Hospice does in our community, and we look forward to holding another successful event on their behalf next year.”
Clydesdale Bank Ayrshire Financial Solutions Centre managing partner Willie Mackie said: “Thanks to the generosity of local businesses who took part on the day and those who supplied great prizes for the auction and prize draw, we raised more than £10,000 for the third year running, which is tremendous.
“Now in its third year, the golf tournament is a regular fixture in the Ayrshire business calendar. Over the years we have raised more than £30,000 for such a worthy cause, and we look forward to continuing to support the charity whenever possible.”
Ayrshire Hospice events co-ordinator Anne Drennan commented: “This is the third year that the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle and the Clydesdale Bank have organised their charity Golf Day in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice, and we are delighted to have their continued support and that of their members and customers.
“The Hospice, like many charities, is facing challenging times at the moment, but we are humbled and encouraged by the unstinting support of the Ayrshire community, which allows us to continue to provide specialist care and support for all those patients and their families who need us.”

US Healthcare Reform to Benefit Indian Generics Industry
The healthcare reform was a milestone in the history of US generic drugs industry, and this will benefit the US generic drugs industry in long-term growth scenario. The US government has now shifted its focus on generic drugs to minimize its healthcare spending and thus, opportunities are being created for generics manufacturers. The generic drugs manufactured in the US are costly due to high cost of manufacturing and therefore demand for imported drugs is increasing. As majority of these drugs are imported from India, the increasing demand in the US is benefitting the Indian generics manufacturers. As per our new research on the sector called “Booming Generics Drug Market in India”, the Indian generics market is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of around 17% between FY 2011 and FY 2013.
According to the report, India has emerged strongly as a major generics manufacturer in the world. The Indian generics industry has witnessed a lot of investments in last few years and these investments will help the industry in expanding its manufacturing capabilities. We have also found that India exports a major part of its production to the developed countries and our research provides reliable statistics in this regard.
The report highlights the fact that the industry is witnessing an increase in number of marketing alliances and acquisitions, and it includes the details of such deals. Besides, the business information of the key industry players has also been covered in the report, which will give an additional advantage to the clients.
“Booming Generics Drug Market in India” is the outcome of our extensive research and thorough analysis on the burgeoning generics industry. The report also discusses the market structure, current and past market performance and factors critical to the success of the generic drugs market in India. It also discusses the role that regulatory factors play in the overall growth of the market, which will guide clients to make intelligent investment decisions.

Visual Alliance Media is pleased to announce the launch of its Social Media Idea Gallery – a Facebook Page designed with small and medium sized businesses in mind.
At the Social Media Idea Gallery, accessible at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Social-Media-Idea-Galle ..., visitors can view and purchase three different template designs for custom tabs on Facebook Pages, starting at $199. Additionally, they can view various truly “custom” options for tabs as well as explore examples of custom tab work completed by the Visual Alliance Media team.
“On many occasions, we have been approached by business owners who have basically said ‘anyone can have a Facebook Page. How can I differentiate mine so that it stands out among my competition?’” says J. Anthony, spokesperson for Visual Alliance Media. “Until the release of our Social Media Idea Gallery, our response to them included the suggestion to create a custom tab using FBML, HTML and CSS or to engage a company like Visual Alliance Media to do it for them. Without the template designs, however, the cost started much higher than $199.”
Visual Alliance Media also provides its social media marketing services (including the low cost template-based custom tabs) in a white label fashion to other social media marketing professionals, enabling them to provide a new service to their clients (under their brand) and to create a new revenue stream for themselves without having to invest time and money into learning to code in FBML, HTML and CSS.
Visit the Social Media Idea Gallery at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Social-Media-Idea-Galle .... Be sure to “Like” it to be kept up to date on new product offerings as well as to receive periodic tips and tricks to help with your social media marketing activities.

Apple iPhone 4G Not Available on Verizon
According to a article that appeared on The Washington Post, one of its technology expert, Rob Pegoraro told that no expectation should be kept, for a Verizon iPhone. As no release date is out for Verizon iPhone so its being assumed that their would be no Verizon iPhone available in US market.
At the annual WWDC Apple had declared their latest invention Apple iPhone 4G. But the company did not mention anything about Verizon. iphone 4G would be available only on AT & T network this year. There are a lot of users of Verizon network. But it is not clear why the iPhone 4G is not being launched on Verizon. May the reason behind it that they want to keep the device exclusively on AT & T. Their must be some kind of pact between the two that no one else other that AT & T can have iPhone on its network.
Several schemes are already out that are offering this apple gadget at affordable prices. There are Cheap iPhone 4G Contract deals will certainly leave people in deep thoughts as the set is made so cheap and if offering several gifts for free with its every purchase. Even iPhone 4G Sim Free deals are very fascinating. In sim free deals one can easily only the handset but a bit high rates have to be paid for it. But for a handset like Apple iPhone people do not mind spending a few more coins as they are aware that they are getting the better than the best product.

The Other World Cup – Of Coffee
The 2010 World Barista Championship is taking place at the Caffe Culture show from 23 – 25 June in the Olympia Exhibition Centre. This event is the premier international coffee competition. Champions from more than 50 countries have to prepare espressos, cappuccinos and original signature drinks during a 15-minute performance set to music.
It’s always the signature drinks that cause the most excitement. They give the competitors a chance to wow and really show their flair. This year the official sponsor, Hamilton Beach Commercial, is supplying its Tempest® blender to help the experts whizz up their winning drinks.
Foodservice Equipment Marketing (FEM), who distributes the Hamilton Beach blenders in the UK, will have a display near the stage showing an entire range of Hamilton Beach Commercial blenders. The FEM team will be on hand to explain to visitors exactly what the blenders can do and how to make sensational drinks.
“We are delighted to be representing Hamilton Beach Commercial blenders at the championship,” says Mark Hogan of FEM. “This American brand is proving extremely popular in the UK. That’s because the blenders’ durability, special ‘wave-action’ container and blade design produce a consistently smooth mixture, with outstanding results, in very quick fashion.”
The Tempest is a powerful blender for fast-paced, high volume businesses. The blenders are easy to operate and offer features that will prove invaluable to the Barista competitors. A timer with automatic shut-off to free the operator up for other tasks, such as making those winning touches to their drinks, and a red warning light that indicates if the container is not in place correctly saves valuable seconds when working under pressure.
For more information and details of local UK stockists call FEM on +44 (0) 1355 244111, email sales@fem.co.uk or visit http://www.fem.co.uk . For information outside the UK, visit www.commercial.hamiltonbeach.com

KTC Capital Analysts View Gold Trending Higher In Spite of Correction Fears
Historically a safe hedge against market volatility, Gold continued its unlikely climb into the price stratosphere. The global financial community has been dealt blow after blow, last year North America, this year Greece, and possibly next year Spain if not sooner. It all translates into upward trending of gold and gold derivative prices.
The largest groups of gold buyers last quarter were firms and high net worth individuals in Europe who have watched their worth plummet with the Euro. They have bought the precious metal heavily and continue to do so. Prior to the Europe crisis when gold was trading between $1,000 and $1,100 per ounce, the street was warning that a correction was likely due to overvaluing. That risk is currently limited as countries around the world boost their gold reserves to hedge against their own inflation and asset bubble risks.

Felixstowe Care Home Wins £9,000 Rational SelfCooking Center
Cotman House in Felixstowe is a care home for the elderly with 20 residents. In a few months time it will be transformed: owners Colin and Louise Bentley have bought adjoining land and are constructing a major new ‘extension’ that will accommodate an additional 42 residents.
Cotman House, formerly Coniston Garfield Road, is named after the architect (and brother of painter John Cotman) who built the original house in the early 20th century. It’s a very popular, owner-run home where the primary focus is on care in a safe, friendly, happy, ‘un-institutional’ environment. The new build will feature the very latest facilities, including a cinema.
To cope with the huge increase in catering it will also feature the very latest in cooking technology – a Rational SelfCooking Center combi steamer.
“Currently we have a very conventional kitchen,” admits Colin Bentley. “Our original plan was to install more of the same – the range, standard oven and so on. But when we talked to our supplier, Gratte Brothers, they recommended we look at a combi, saying it would be better able to meet our needs.”
“I was very sceptical initially,” says Louise Bentley. “I couldn’t see the need. But then Colin and I went to one of Rational’s TeamCooking Live (TCL) seminars and we were simply amazed. The SelfCooking Center blows the lid off conventional cooking equipment.”
David Sutton of Gratte Bros arranged for the Bentleys to attend the TCL at nearby Portman Road, home to Ipswich FC. “One of the reasons we recommend Rational combis is that their support is terrific, for the whole life of the machine,” he comments.
The Bentleys were so impressed they placed an order there and then, at the TCL, for a 10 grid SelfCooking Center. However, they also entered a special prize draw for a six grid model – and a few weeks later found out they’d won. They’ve decided to put the smaller unit in the new home’s satellite kitchen, with the ten grid in the main one.
“It was the flexibility of the Rational that really sold us,” says Louise. “We need to cope with a variety of dietary requirements – gluten free, vegetarian, low fat and so on. The seminar showed that the SelfCooking Center will make it easier and quicker to get the food just right – and it will be healthier, with more nutrients, due to the way it’s cooked.”
One thing that really impressed the Bentleys at the seminar was the relaxed atmosphere. “The presentation was very professional but there was no hard sell,” says Louise. “Plus, the food was delicious! It’s worth pacing yourself, or you’ll find you’re too full at the end!”
Going to the TCL meant the Bentleys saw unexpected benefits – such as the ability to expand their menu. “For example, we don’t offer steak at the moment, because we need to be able to serve all 20 residents at the same time,” says Louise. “Getting it just so is difficult with conventional equipment. But getting 20 or even 60 steaks perfectly cooked, all at the same time, is really easy in the SelfCooking Center.”
If there’s one meal that’s more popular with residents of Cotman House than any other it’s a roast dinner. “The Rational will be just brilliant at them,” says Colin. “The meat is succulent and we’ll be able to cook overnight using the SelfCooking Center’s slow cook technology.”
Louise strongly recommends going to a TCL seminar. “Even if you talk to the sales people and read all the brochures, you really don't have any idea what the SelfCooking Center can do till you see it in action. At one point they cooked a salmon and first asked us, did we want it poached or pan fried? We thought, pan fried in an oven? Yeah, right. So they did it and it came out perfectly pan fried! It’s an amazing machine.”

Companion conferences made possible at Expo
Increasingly, exhibition organisers are looking at delivering a multi-faceted business event experience, and the best way to achieve this is to incorporate conferences and meetings alongside the main exhibition. Both CommunicAsia and its sister trade event, BroadcastAsia, now present a conference component each.
The CommunicAsia Summit will boast ten forums and workshops highlighting topics such as “Converged Device Management”, “Getting In On the Cloud”, “Network Security” and “Mobile Value Added Services”. Most importantly, it will feature keynote speakers including the Chief Executive Officers of Blyk, hSenid Software, InCent, Infinita, Skype and Starhub, plus senior management executives from numerous MNCs such as Accenture, Edelman, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Research In Motion, Samsung and Yahoo!.
At the BroadcastAsia International Conference, keynote speakers will discuss pertinent issues in six informative sessions, namely “Embrace & Engage the Future – Broadband, 3D & Beyond”, “Breaking New Barriers in Multi-Platform Content Delivery”, “The New TV Model”, “Optimizing File Based Workflow and Asset Management”, “Increasing your ROI: Leveraging on New Social Networking Media” and “Revolutionary Technology Transmission and TV Systems”. Two new conferences will also be launched this year – “Creative Content Production” and “New Communications & Broadcast World”. To fully accommodate all these sessions under one roof, Expo's Hall 8 will be creatively transformed into a conference complex, housing two large rooms – Marquise and Trilliant.
Auxiliary business activities are not forgotten at Expo
An integral component of any successful exhibition is business discussion and matching sessions, where partnerships are forged and deals are made. At CommunicAsia, Hospitality Suites will be made available in Halls 4 and 5 for leading companies such as Amdocs, Ceragon Networks, Dialogic, Emerson Network Power, Harmonic, Huawei, NTT Docomo, Yahoo! and Zhongguancun Science Park, where focused business meetings with their targeted customers can conducted seamlessly.
Chandran Nair, Deputy General Manager of Expo’s managing company, Singex Venues Pte Ltd, comments, “Singapore Expo is committed to redefining the exhibition and convention experience, and further reinforcing Singapore's reputation as one of Asia's best cities to hold a business event. For a major international trade show of an impressive scale and size such as CommunicAsia, we are flexible enough to fully cater to both the massive exhibition-cum-conference model as well as intimate business meetings on the sidelines. We anticipate that this upcoming edition will be yet another illustrious milestone for us and the organiser.”

Payday Loans No Credit check: Instant cash till next payday
Are you getting troubled while applying for a loan due to your poor credit history? If so, then here is the solution to your problem. Payday Loans No Credit check have been introduced to help those people who suffer due to their bad credit rating and have to face a lot many rejections by the different lenders. Actually the reason behind the rejection by the lenders is their insecurity regarding the repayment of the entire loan amount by the time. Due to the absence of the security, the lender feels really insecure in granting loans to the borrowers with bad credit score. But, now it’s the time to cheer-up as due to the introduction of the payday Loans No Credit check.
Payday Loans No Credit check are the kind of short-term loans that provide funds for the borrowers till the arrival of their next payday. The borrowers can borrow an amount ranging from £100 to £1,500 with repayment duration of about 7 to 31 days. The date of repayment of these loans generally coincides with your next payday. Also, these loans have an unsecured nature as they do not demand security against the loan in the form of valuable assets like any building or property. Moreover, due to the absence of security against the loan, the rate of interest for these loans is generally high as compared to the other long term loans. The borrower should be 18 years old or above, should be regular employee with a minimum salary of $1000, should have a valid bank account and should be a reliable UK citizen. The loan amount is entirely used according to the requirements and wish of the borrower since there is no restriction on its use. The borrower may use it for the urgent expenses like paying-off medical bills, credit card bills, grocery bills, car repair, travel expenses, educational expenses and many more. Since there is no credit check conducted at all, therefore the borrowers having bad credit records like CCJs, arrears, late payment, bankruptcy, and defaults etc. can also apply for these loans without any fear of rejection to their loan application. Due to the absence of formalities like faxing of documents and other kind of paper-work, the loan application process is really fast.
Now the lenders need not waste their precious time for the loan application process. They can apply for the loan of their choice online without wasting their time by standing in long queues outside the loan agencies and waiting for their turn to come for the application of loan. It saves the time of borrowers and they are not required to move out of their home to apply for these loans as they can do so while sitting at their own place only. After comparing the deals offered by the different online lenders, they can choose a suitable deal for themselves. Then, they are required to fill an online application form and deposit it to the lender. After verification, the loan amount will get transferred to the account of the borrower very soon.

Flexiant targets SME and start up market with next generation cloud platform
The eagerly awaited next generation of Europe’s first cloud platform, FlexiScale 2.0, launches today. FlexiScale 2.0 is a complete, bottom-up re-write of market leading FlexiScale, a dominant player in public cloud platforms since 2007. FlexiScale 2.0’s leading-edge technology enables start-ups and SMEs to grow from one server to one thousand servers in seconds – critical for organisations offering streaming video, social networking or SaaS, and ideal for a wealth of other applications.
FlexiScale 2.0’s pay-as-you-go virtual dedicated servers can be up and running, or taken down in less than 60 seconds, ensuring businesses can rapidly shape their IT resources in response to dynamic market conditions. With no long-term commitment or capital expenditure, FlexiScale 2.0 facilitates clear focus on core business activities by reducing time, energy and effort spent on IT provisioning and investment.
Powered by Flexiant’s flagship technology “Extility”, FlexiScale 2.0 has a very user-friendly look and feel making operating the functionally enriched FlexiScale 2.0 an empowering experience. Current users of FlexiScale will see immediately that Flexiant has responded to market demand and remain clear leaders in provisioning viable, business enabling technology.
Key new features include:
A completely revised graphical user interface;
A richer API for programmatic server control;
Substantially reduced charges;
Highly accelerated initial boot times;
Virtual Data Centres to enable customers to organise their own array of servers;
Ability for customers to attach, detach, resize, snapshot, image and clone virtual disks;
Ability for customers to create their own servers from uploaded images; and
VNC console support to diagnose boot or connectivity issues.
Customers can fire up as many servers as they want. These can be based upon either an OS or appliance images from Flexiant’s own library, a customer uploaded image, or a clone of an existing customer server. Flexiant’s advanced storage system means there is no long OS installation cycle; however the server is built, it will be available in seconds. Servers in the virtual data centre can be built either through Flexiant’s intuitive web-based user interface or using its comprehensive API, allowing users to control the servers programmatically.
Tony Lucas, Founder of Flexiant explains: “Our existing FlexiScale customers are very important to us and we know they will love the improvements and new features of FlexiScale 2.0 that the Extility technology suite has enabled.”
The OS agnostic FlexiScale 2.0 supports MS Windows Server and all common versions of Linux. Each customer has their own VLAN and their own virtual disks giving security and network QoS. Flexiant provides a fully monitored system, fully automated hardware recovery and instantaneous backup and restore capabilities through disk snapshots.
Reseller opportunity
Since FlexiScale was first launched in 2007 it has built up a strong customer base and now Flexiant is offering the opportunity to the web-hosting reseller market and to IT service delivery companies.
Flexiant’s FlexiScale 2.0 Resellers and Affiliates will be able to rapidly leverage their existing customer base to take advantage of FlexiScale’s platform independent infrastructure, bringing immediate improvement to bottom-line performance, whilst delivering highly dependable world-class services to their customers.
Tony Lucas comments: “FlexiScale 2.0 delivers an excellent commercial opportunity for technology resellers to deploy wide ranging high quality services to their existing customers, whilst enabling them to compete more effectively in this very challenging industry. We are very proud of bringing this innovative, leading edge technology to market”
